Hialeah Speedway Cyclones Rules 2005

 

Interpretation of all rules is left to the discretion of the Miami Speedway as to the spirit and intent of the rules herein.  If it doesn’t say to do it, the absence of a specific rule does not imply consent, approval or permission regarding the subject.  If you don’t read about it, don’t touch it or change it in any way or you will be illegal.  Definition of STOCK means no modifications to factory parts or factory specifications.  Any questions or doubts regarding such matters should be directed to an Miami Speedway official.  The Miami Speedway Management will make any further definitions and interpretations of these rules.  Effective date January 1, 2004.

 

 

Eligible Cars

 

Any Miami Speedway approved coupe or sedan from 1970 to current year, no convertibles, station wagons or pickup allowed.

 

 

Wheelbase

 

105” to 117” only.

 

Body

 

  1. All car bodies must remain stock
  2. No cutting of fenders or quarter panels for any reason.  Rear inner wheels wells must remain unaltered and in place.  Front inner fender wells may be removed if they can unbolt.  Rear quarters may be gutted for body straightening only, but must be replaced with sheet metal.
  3. All doors must be bolted and/ or welded shut
  4. Gutting of doors allowed only for roll cage clearance.
  5. Stock bumpers only no sharp edges.
  6. No rub rails allowed.
  7. Stock dashboard must remain in place.  If it unbolts you may remove it.  Stock wiring may be removed.
  8. Rear firewall between trunk area and driver area and package tray of the rear window mounting surface area must remain and any openings must be patched with at least .22 gauge sheet metal.  This is mandatory.
  9. Aluminum seat if mandatory.  Mounting of seat is subject to Hialeah Speedway inspection and approval.  Seat must attach to the roll cage.  See tech for diagram.
  10. All window glass must be removed except the windshield.  The windshield must remain or may be replaced with lexan, no Plexiglas and no dirt screens.
  11. Headlights and tail lights must be removed.  All body side trim molding must be removed.  All interior upholstery must be removed (back seat, carpet, headliner, door trim panels, etc.
  12. No full sheet metal interiors will be permitted.

 

Suspension

 

  1. All suspension must remain stock for make and model of car used.
  2. No modifications of any kind will be allowed.  (OEM parts only).
  3. 5 degree maximum camber using any bolt, grade 8 or better recommended.
  4. Offset upper control arm shafts allowed.
  5. Front shocks must be the same and stock or replacement.
  6. Rear shocks must be same and stock or stock replacement.

 

Wheels

 

Steel wheels only.  Maximum wheel is 7” with stock offset of 31/2” plus or minus ¼”.  Must use 1” OD lug nuts, safety wheel optional.

 

Tires

 

Hialeah Speedway track approved tire only.  Goodyear Eagle GT+4 225-70-15, 235-7—15, Goodyear RSA 225-70-15.

 

Engines

 

  1. All engines must remain stock, no exceptions.  No modifications of any kind.  No high performance parts, stock replacement parts only.
    1. A compression pressure of 185 PSI max
    2. Piston may be dish or flat top but must be cast , no forged or racing pistons.
    3. All 350 engines must use open chamber head.  No 305 heads on 350 blocks.  No stainless steel valves allowed.  Three angle valve jobs are allowed.  Pistons may not be less than .015 in the hole.  A .030 max over bore for block clean up.
    4. Cam may not exceed .390-410 lift no exception.
    5. Engine must pull 20 inches of vacuum at 850 rpm or driver must pull cam to prove it is not a race profile cam.  No anti-pump or fast bleed lifters.  No hydraulic roller cams.
    6. Pinning or screwing of rocker studs for repair only (one or two pins per head is all that will be accepted).  Engine size must match style of car used.
    7. No EFI or Vortec engines.  Carburetor engines only.  Factory aluminum intake allowed on 305 Chevy engine only.  The only exception is any GM car meeting all other class rules may use 350 Chevy engine and the 350 transmission.
  2. Air conditioner parts, smog pumps, power steering pumps and alternator may be removed.  No racing pulleys allowed.
  3. Exhaust must run under the car and be stock for engine, and exit behind the driver.
  4. Drive shaft must be painted day-glo or white.  All cars must have a Hialeah Speedway approved drive shaft hoop.
  5. Radiator must have a catch can at end of overflow hose.

 

Drive Train

 

  1. Transmission and rear end must remain stock.  No posi-traction or locked rear ends.  No rear disc brakes.  Transmission coolers are allowed but no oil coolers.  Transmission mounts may not be welded or solid.  No modification of any kind.  Automatic transmissions only.  Gear must be stock for make and model of the car you are using.  Allowed ratios 2.41, 2.56, 2.73, 3.08
  2. Metric cars may use 2.41, 2.56, 2.73, 3.08, 3.73.

 

Fuel

 

Hialeah Speedway approved racing fuel or pump fuel may be used.

 

Safety

 

  1. All safety rules apply to this class.
  2. Battery can be mounted under the hood on left or right side of engine compartment or battery may be optionally mounted inside the car, but must be in a marine type fully enclosed box and with a disconnect switch accessible from outside the car.  Class weight rules are in effect for mounting location of battery.  No cutting of firewall to mount battery.  Battery must be securely fastened.
  3. A mandatory roll cage must be used.  Dash bars are allowed.  A four point roll cage may be used.  All main bars must be minimum .90 wall thickness mild steel.  This includes the right side foot bars.  Left side door may be gutted if the roll cage bars extend to the door skin.  Right side door must remain stock and in place.
  4. Hood pins must be used on the front of the hood only, no nuts or wing nuts.  Stock hood hinges must remain.  Hood and trunk latches must be removed.
  5. A Hialeah Speedway approved fuel cell may be used, 22 gallons max.  The fuel cell must be mounted in the center of the trunk area.  No rigid spouts or pipes shall pass through the body.  All fuel cells must have a check valve in the vent line.  Fuel cell must be protected from all sides and rear steel safety straps must pass under the fuel cell from side to side and front to rear and across the top of the cell.  The strapping must be securely fastened to the inside of the frame rails, through bolted only.
  6. All cars in this class must have passed a recent technical inspection and subject to re-inspection at any time.
  7. Steering wheel pads are mandatory for all cars.

 

Weight

 

No ballast weight.  There must not be more than 50 pounds weight difference from side to side.  Weight does not include driver.

 

Track Claiming Rule

 

The track reserve the right to claim any car, engine or cam it feels outclasses the division.

  1. Complete engine from and including flywheel forward to and including fan is $700.00
  2. Complete car less fuel cell, gauges, seat, racing harness is $1200.00
  3. Cam shafts $100.00

 

The person signing in the car will be responsible for making the decision to accept or reject the claim.  If you refuse to sell the claimed item the person signing in the car could be subject to a six month suspension from the pit area.  The car will be suspended for the rest of the season and the driver driving the car at the time will lose all previously accumulated points.  The track may auction claimed cars or engines at a later date.
